PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM DEFINITION, PROS AND CON

Presidential system of government as we know is the direct opposite of parliamentary system of government, presidential system as it denote is said to be as the combination of two men post by one, the president serve as both the head of government and  head of state.

In most presidential state, the president serve the head of the executive and has is own ministers which might not include only the member of his party, though Presidential system works best in a democratic state or a civil setting, all the same, the president is always vested the veto power to reject any bill which some set of ambitious legislature might have draft.

So far presidential system is always practise in most federal state, it has gotten the opportunity of been large and vast to be even called the best system that suit the new age concept of democracy, so far everyone wants democracy then presidentalism will last long.

MERIT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT :

1. THE PRESIDENT HAS TWO FUNCTION :

The president in a presidential system has much power to some degree that he function as both the head of state and head of government, the position is naturally split in a parliamentary state, but for the purpose of this post, just understand that presidentalism is the combination of two post by one.

2. IT IS DEMOCRATIC :

As democracy is one of the most legally acquired knowledge in the world to mean the politics one have to practice, presidential system is always democratic cause it is the same constitution that governs a democratic state which also govern a presidential state.

3. SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION :

In every democratic state the constitution is always Supreme and not even the so call power of the arms or the president himself will hider it, supremacy means that something surpass another I.e the constitution in a presidential state surpass everyone including the government that made it.

4. THE PRESIDENT ARE ELECT FOR SOME TERM IN OFFICE :

Unlike most traditional queens that parliamentary system introduced into their system, presidential system abort all those irrationalities in place of 1 man in office for some period of term and of course which could be remove before time through mass complain or plebiscite.

5. THE PRESIDENT AS THE HEAD OF EXECUTIVE PROTECT THE STATE FROM EXTERNAL ATTACK :

The president serve as the overall boss for all executive in a presidential state, so far he does this, one of his main function also is to protect the citizens right from being violated by an external I.e other countries.

DEMERIT OF PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT

1. RIGGING OF ELECTION :

In most so called democratic and presidential state the order of the day is election rigging and it is one of the way the system has always violate the citizens right to vote, because most of their votes don't count, if ones vote doesn't count, I think it has no name than disenfranchisement which means they are denied their voting right.

2. CORRUPT PRACTICES:

Corrupt practices in many sense I.e most presidential system are totally corrupted and the order of the day is nothing but money embezzlement and total corruption if the president alongside is so called executive who are mend to be implementing policies and not deteriorating the one on ground, they even extends their hands to approve only the constitution that will only be in their favor sent by the legislature.

3. IMPEACHMENT PROCESS MAY SEEMS HARD :

The fact that impeachment can't take place a day means that the president can stay in office and abuse it and still the impeachment process will not complete, the Bureaucratic nature of a democratic state negate the fact that change should take over in a night but only to follow the lengthy process will in one way or the other favors the president.

4. VETOING OF BILL :

So far the power to pass veto is conferred on the president, he might misuse it to is own favor which might not favors the mass at large, the bill he is asked to veto (approve) must be a very favorable one to most president, if opposite is the case then the bill is getting rejected.

5. NO SECURITY OF TENURE FOR MINISTERS :

Ministers can be removed at any time from office by the president, he or she might be removed either found corrupt, or he never wants to go in line with the corrupt part of the president, the president might disappoint him and give another errand boy who will listen to his dirty will chance to be install as the new minister in place of the old one.
