POLITICAL PARTIES : DEFINITION, TYPES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF A POLITICAL PARTY

Political party can be said to be as the group of like minded fellow who brings themselves together in a particular area, territory, state or region to form government through a constitutional means.


Political parties are totally different from a pressure group in that, political party seek to controls the government of a particular country but pressure group will only in all way influence government policies to its benefits.

Let for instance, political party in a state may fight for the Control of power through a legal means that is it must follow the due process stated in the constitution, though their are many types of political party but it's general aim is to control government which is the direct opposite of the so called pressure group, let me break it down to everyone's size, pressure group don't put up action until they feel frustrated, it might be a group of mechanics or carpentery workers in a country fighting for the the favorable means of their work to be easily carried out with no too much stress.

Most times pressure groups don't show up not until they fill they are not on a favorable terms with government, as the definition says, they are who influenced government policy  for change.

A political party is are group of people with similar ideas, perception, beliefs, principles, opinions with their utmost plan to take over the hovering power of a particular country. Although before a political party will be recognized it will have meet up to the necessary requirements of the electoral commission of that country. There is also something you have to know, Political associations metamorphosis into a political party, because it's until the party got registered by the electoral commission before it is pronounced a political party.

TYPES OF POLITICAL PARTY

1. ELITE PARTY : Elite as the word itself depict means that this kind of party is one which forms it members from the upper or the higher ranking in the society, it might be that most of them are from the same professional profession I.e it might be form by lawyers, Doctors, Tycoon, Bussiness expert and any high ranking people in the society.

2. MASS PARTY: as the name also depicts, we should understands that it is also a one which drawa its membership from all sphere and areas around the society, mass party takes it name from what it can be easily figure out like ALL ALLIANCE PEOPLE'S PARTY, TOGETHER PEOPLE'S PARTY.

3. BROKERS PARTY: this party are formed with members drawn from the upper and lower classes of the society. Their main aim is to put to end the wide gap between the rich and poor for better living in the society.

4. CHARISMATIC PARTY : as you can see, we said charisma, charisma means the level of one intellectual faculty, charismatic party are those kind of party headed by a point out figure in the society, either because of is reasoning ability or his distinctive lifestyle.

5. RELIGIONS PARTY : They are created through religious doctrines and they appeal to religious sentiment in order to win votes. Members of this party are purely fanatic and beliefs strictly in religious doctrine.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POLITICAL PARTY 

1. Political parties are those that could take the control of government through constitutional means with the recognition of the state or country electoral commission

2. They totally aimed at contesting elections and taking over political power to administer the country to favorable means of growing the society

3. Different political parties are guided by different political manifestos, and this is really good cause it makes you know their agenda before you vote them in as the governing body of your state.

4. They show loyalties to electorate who determines their political successes in order to win election.

5. Political party expresses their opinions based on the places they can affect to repair some short-comings of a society.
